Right Wings and Left Wings politics in India
I was 16 or 17 years old when I started taking newspapers seriously. I had have three fields of interest and one of them was politics. Back then, when I was started reading English newspapers, I stuck with many such words which meaning can be found in the dictionary. The right wing and Left were the most stuck words at the time. Though, with the passage of time, I have started getting a clue for these words.
When you are a politically active reader and/or writer, you must need to understand the real meaning of these words and how it is shaping in India. Let us take a dip in the realm of the Right Wing and Left Wing. When we categories all the politically active Right wings, we have two kinds of them like — Revolutionary right and Liberal right. I wish to clarify here that Left don’t have a monopoly on the Liberal minded people. Revolutionary right minded people are the high pitched Nationalists and clamor for the reform. These people wish to have restrictive immigration policies. This is what we can observe in the case of Rohingya community are immigrating to India from Myanmar (Similarly in the case of Trump’s restrictive policies against the immigration). Revolutionary right wings are highly against these practices. However not every Right wing is convinced or against the restrictive immigration policies, there are Liberal Right wings whose thoughts are aligned with Right wings policies while they keep their heart towards the left.
Let me have a bit more of literal approach towards the distinction between these two Wings. If Right wing means right, why there even exist Left? The word Right derived from the government establishment in the past (somewhere related to French Revolution, dating back the 18th century), those people who were with the government are seated right to the government and those who were against the government are seated left. So basically word ‘right’ in Right wing does not represent correctness but one of the two sides of people. It has been seen that running a federal structure keeping the sovereignty of the nation intact, Right wing policies are more helpful.
Left wing minded people always pitch for the social equality and are gainst the capitalism in the core. While left wing thoughts are divine in nature for the human beings but it has been misused by their so-called caretakers. Left wings policies are an ideal condition which can never be achieved so to retain their credibility, the contractor of Left wing politics are cloistered to be an iconoclast. We know that human is very competitive in nature so restricting them to grow to ensure the social equality is injustice at the same time. Like on what Naxal politics work. Naxalism (read Revolutionary left wing) are always rooted to block those who are making a way to get rich.Instead of blocking those who are craving for getting rich, they should encourage poor people for their upliftment.
Let me put the things in India’s point of view. Right wings and Left wings in India have broadly divided in a political point of view. We can find BJP’s politics as the Right wing at same time CPI (M) and CPI politics as Left wings while rest of the political parties take a stand in between them including Congress party. We know the Left wings parties are electorally not that strong still they are considered powerful. Left wings influence the thought of the people while the same people support the cause of Left wing politics but don’t believe in voting them. As I have already stated Right wings are most suitable to protect the sovereignty of the Nation in current times. However Left wings savor the moral support of the people mainly to check the government.
Here I would like to append the things to make the Right wings and Left wings ideologies clear in better way –
Right Wings Left Wings
1. National interest in utmost priority. 1.Word ‘Nation’ looks blurred in their dictionary.
2. Intended to conserve their culture and identity and sometimes be proud of it. 2.Non-ambitious people and belief in equal social identity for all.
3. Believe in protecting their things and can even resort to war for the sake of honor. 3.Advocate against the security establishment.
4. Proud of the motherland. 4.Proud of culture and things irrespective of the country these things belong.
5. Believe in development politics and modernization. 5.Against the materialistic development or modernization.
6. Believe in an established system. 6.Against the established system.
7. Regulate those who have stood against the common belief. 7. A liberal approach and quite open to express them come what may.
P.S. Whatever points are discussed above are not necessarily followed by Right wings political parties and Left wings parties in India as hypocrisy also exist :)
