Review of Brandon Sanderson’s The Lost Metal
A Cosmere entry that will no doubt be controversial and polarizing for Mistborn-only readers, but rich and exciting for people who read Brandon’s other series
“Well, that happened much earlier than I thought.” Was the thought that I had about a quarter into The Lost Metal, as I realized that the rest of this book would involve a significant amount of things and characters from Brandon’s non-Mistborn’s books.
Whether you’ve noticed some recurring characters or patterns, if you’ve been reading more than one series by Sanderson, you would know that this was gonna happen at some point, I just thought it would start in a decade or two, not so soon.
What this means is, people who only read/like Mistborn (but not other Cosmere books) will enjoy this book less than those who are more familiar with the Cosmere. How much less? Well, that depends on your preferences.
But I’m getting way ahead of myself, what is this book even about?
The Lost Metal takes place several years after the events of Bands of Mourning, and all of our main characters have changed in some ways due to this time skip. They all have settled into new roles and have gotten into new comfortable routines…
