Movie vs Book

The classic debate. Book vs the Movie. Readers argue that the books are always better. those who are more visual, or are not avid readers, might think the movie is great. But trying to compare a movie and a book is like trying to compare a book store to a hot dog stand. They are vastly different. Movies rely on actors, script, and sets to convey what the story is about. They create a visual scene for viewing.
Books only have words. The reader uses their mind and imagination to create that scene. They mentally picture all that is happening in the story. Their minds are engaged with both reading the story and letting those words become a ‘movie’ in their head.
Movies have visually appealing scenes. They bring the pretend to life with tricks and actors. Allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the action and drama. We live in the movie with the actors. We observe all the interactions and moments with rapt attention.
Yet the debate between the two different mediums is not with out merit. It is a matter of preference, do you like having the visuals provided, or do you like imagining the visuals for yourself? Are you one that watches facial expressions, hanging onto every line and admiring the actors? Or do you like being all curled up with a book, imagining yourself in the world that the characters inhabit. Do you use the words as a key to what the scene looks like?
