The new, ‘old-breakfast’ parody.

Before i emerged myself into a plant-based, vegan diet I was always considered myself on the lines of a ‘healthy’ lifestyle.

However, there are so much misconceptions of what a real healthy diet is. With the promotion of products such as supermarket granola bars, low calorie cereal and low fat yogurt consumers are tricked to thinking they are making the right food choices.

I believe the real problem is “the war against calories”. People think that as long as they have a low calorie, they can eat stuff like pizza or a donut.

However, a real healthy diet is not based around how many calories you consume, but what you consume.

This little story explains the difference between the food choices are tricked into thinking are healthy; and those which really are. . .

I think it is safe to say that breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day. Sometimes even some simple toast with scrambled eggs would be my paradise but the ultimate breakfast (which was simple and done in 1 minute):

Cereal and yogurt!

(The new old breakfast parody result: ahead)

Two elements which people, especially women, on diets pretty much need to survive. I’m talking about the conventional, low calorie / low carb diet not a rich, filling, vegan diet.

Low calorie Cereal: Genious marketing behind it make people think it’s healthy. Where the hell is the healthy in this processed, sugary, chemical product? No idea.

Low fat Yogurt: Creamy, healthy delight?! Or just some more fake advertisement for a dairy product which we use to fill ourselves up when we are really craving other things… like icream…

Upon starting my new eating habits breakfast became much more simple and 10 times more filling. I can sometimes go until 4 or 5 pm without even feeling hunger. All of this thanks to a delicious morning smoothie!

It’s perfectly filling and nurtures my body. Here are the simple ingredients to a great morning:

3-4 bananas

Plant based milk

Dates

Chia seeds

This morning, I wanted to do something different but still healthy and filling. As I opened my fridge I noticed I was almost out of my rice milk, so… I thought of making a vegan version of my ex-companion; yogurt.

Here’s a very important point I would like to mention as a very dear friend once made me reflect;

We should not be basing the vegan cuisine on replacing the usual dishes:

Vegan pizza, Vegan cheese, Vegan burgers

Vegan… yogurt?

We should embrace vegan food as a whole new category itself instead of trying to create replacements. After all… I don’t want to eat yogurt, or cheese or meat I want to eat fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains.

So here’s my new — old breakfast parody:

Not-yogurt:

2 frozen and 1 normal banana

A cup of dates

Chia seeds

One delicious, heavenly avocado

Just a bit of rice milk

whip up in the food processor!

Topped with:

Home made Granola

Almonds

Blueberries and raspberries

Maple syrup

Voila.
