The goal of NLP is to make human language ‒ which is complex, ambiguous, and extremely diverse ‒ easy for machines to understand.

The most popular examples of NLP in action are virtual assistants, like Google Assist, Siri, Cortana and Alexa. NLP understands written and spoken text like “Hey Siri, What’s the best place to have a pizza around here?” and transforms it into numbers, making it easy for machines to understand and respond.

Another well-known application of NLP is chatbots that helps support teams solve issues by understanding common language requests and responding automatically.

Text recommendations when writing an email and offering to translate a post written to a different language are some of the everyday applications of NLP.
