Early life:
Dhyan Chand was born on 29 August 1905 in the city sangam,
Allahabad and the goods names of his parents is Sameshwar Datt Singh (British Indian Army employee) and Sharda Sigh. Major Dhyan Chand father having frequent transfer because of these he is not able to concentrate on his studies. As a result he drop his studies. He interested in Wrestling but he join the Army at the age of 16. Then after he focus more towards the field hockey. He completing the Army training during day time and practice hockey in the moonlight.
Achievements in Olympic :
-1928 Gold medal at Amsterdam.
-1932 Gold medal at Los Angels.
-1936 Gold medals at Berlin.
-Major Dhyan Chand has 1000 goals in his active career.
-Major Dhyan Chand Known As the Wizards for his superb ball control.
-He took retirement from Indian Army as a major in the year 1956.
Awards: Padma Vibhushan.
Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards:
Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award is the highest sporting honour of India. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
The recipient is selected by a committee constituted by the Ministry and is honoured for their “spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports over a period of four years” at international level. As of 2020, the award comprises a medallion, a certificate, and a cash prize of 25 lakh.
