JLT, Spotify. JLT.

Felt like writing, like I said, Just Like That.

Small little moments add up to what we magnify later as “that part of my life.”

This is that part of my life when I was introduced to Spotify by one of my colleagues on my first national team. (I was part of two national teams of AIESEC in India, look up — I can’t believe this is a thing of the past now haha, feels beautiful.) This guy was on the first one, Member Committee Rang (2015-’16).

Kiran Deep is his name. He often sold the idea of Spotify to us and would describe the need to have TunnelBear to activate a secure VPN service, thereby making Spotify available in India. I never really digged the idea, until a year later, I got the work done. I have Spotify on my laptop.

And “Temporary Love” by The Brinks was the first song I added to my first ever Spotify playlist labelled ‘unsaid.’ I played that song today and it is on loop now.

Strangely, the song isn’t reminding me of any particular incident or memories, except the fact that I randomly found it around and followed it, in the first place. It is so simple and soothing. Listening to it calmed my nerves down and is putting me in such a good mood.

No drama. Just a little track is making a brilliant difference for some weird reason. I usually walk straight into the lyrics and then develop a taste for the tune. This one is different. I thought you should listen to it too, just like that. Hence, this little post.

The actual track isn’t available in my country. The live version is on YouTube though. I still managed to find a lesser known video of the original soundtrack. Here you go, have a bloody goodnight and an even better day tomorrow, wherever and whoever you are:

Lyrics:

[Verse 1]
Call the cops, call your lifeline
There’s no way you were ever in your right mind
Cut your loss at the tideline
It will cave from the waves when they pass by

It’s a shot, it’s a tight wind
We’ll be caught in forever for a long time
But your touch gets me so high
And feeling sorry for myself at the same time

[Chorus]
So unsafe
Is this temporary love I crave
Will we ever get enough to take
From the memory, it was a phase
Is this temporary love?
Oh is this temporary love?

[Verse 2]
Wash your cuts, let the salt dry
Shed your skin on a whim and be all mine
Is our love just a part time?
Sometimes I think that it’s more, have I lost sight?

[Chorus]
So unsafe
Is this temporary love I crave
Will we ever get enough to take
From the memory, it was a phase
Is this temporary love?
Oh is this temporary love?

[Bridge]
On and on, my friends
We will sing until it ends
On and on, my friends
We will sing until it ends
On and on, my friends
We will sing until it ends
’Til it ends

[Chorus]
So unsafe
Is this temporary love I crave
Will we ever get enough to take
From the memory, it was a phase
Is this temporary love?
Oh is this temporary love?

Love, x and o.

I am the parenthesis of love in a stanza of your most favourite page in the book called life. I punctuate your story with my honesty. Dogear me, as you like it.
