How I braved my bachelorhood to stay in a Rental House !!

Hello peps, how’s life ?
Mine is fantastic or you can say I made it so. I think we can manage our life by our own and no one can disturb your mental peace without your permission (inspired by Mahatma Gandhi :P even I don’t read a lot about him).
Yeah, I don’t give a F**K to the shits out there, whether it’s my personal life or professional. Let me tell you a story to prove my statement.
If you are a bachelor (like me ;) ) and staying in Delhi/NCR then might be you are considering wrong about yourself. Yes, start considering yourself as a Criminal or a dog(what house owners think about us — reality dude :D).
Few months back, I shifted to Noida because of my job change. Shruti (my childhood friend & married now) was already staying here, so I landed to her flat — a 2 BHK rented flat where she was staying with her husband.
After reaching to her flat(a well furnished and maintained one), I insisted Shruti to get me also a furnished flat like her in nearby society as I need to settle there as soon as possible (I don’t like to be a Kabab me Haddi ;) in between these two young married people). Shruti agreed and we planned to talk with the house owner as there were some vacant flats available with that owner.
In the evening, around 7 PM, we visited to Owner’s house for the discussion. Owner (I don’t want to write his name here) seems to be very gentle man and aged somewhere around 45 to 50 years. He welcomed us and asked for the purpose. Shruti started the conversation with an introduction of mine to the owner, “She is my childhood friend and recently shifted to Noida for her new job, and she is looking for a flat to stay for.”
Owner smiled and asked me about my details including family background, job profile, company details, etc., etc. Then he asked to confirm whether I am single or married and with whom I’ll stay. I replied calmly, “I am single and just live alone with my privacy & freedom.”
He laughed this time and passed a few paper cuttings to me. I am attaching these paper cuttings here :

And he left his place without saying any single word. I was shocked & surprised after watching this. Shruti told me, “this is the regular happenings for bachelors in finding an accommodation in Delhi/NCR location — even house owners treated bachelors as a criminal.” She continued, “about 80% of group housing and multi-storey societies in Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad do not allow bachelors, single women, and in some instances pet owners, to rent flats.”
When I asked the reason for, Shruti explained me these reasons :
- Fear of Ruckus : Owners feel that every bachelors are born to create ruckus/disturbance for the whole society. Like they think, married people never creates a ruckus and maintain the peace which is a total myth.
- Opposite Gender coming home means Sex : There is huge gap in thinking process of our generation and their generation. We think of sharing knowledge, parties, friendship, projects with anyone who are compatible with us. But they think, if opposite genders are together, it means something is there gonna to be happen and that something is definitely SEX — Mean Minded People.
- Late Nights : This is also something which shifts from their generation to our generation. For you late nights means, more productive hours, for them a disturbance for sleeping people.
- Life Style, Drinks, Parties : They have fear with the lifestyle of bachelors, they think bachelor means smoker, drinker, late night parties with house full of guests & loud music.
- If Bachelors In, No Girls Safe in the Society : They have a misconception about the bachelors that they will tease society girls or will follow them day & night. If a single girl is staying, outside boys will enter with them in the society disturbing society & girls.
Stop Stop….I disturbed Shruti with her logics,“tell me what should I do then.”
She suggested me to try with Room Soom — a platform which provides furnished accommodation and do not discriminate families & bachelors like house owners do. I followed her instructions and visited Room Soom website, I requested there for a visit and immediately got there call. I scheduled a visit for next day for some of the shortlisted properties there.
Next day, there Executive Mr. Amit Mishra (I am writing his name because he was so professional and gentle man , he deserves the appreciation) called me and arrange my visit to 3 properties as per my requirement. I booked one of them(I can’t tell you exact address) which is near to my workplace and well connected with Metro & Roadways. There services are great, I can’t mention here as this post is my personal experience and not their promotion (Sorry team Room Soom, you can pay to me for marketing if want me to write more for you ;) ).
Finally, I got a furnished accommodation in Noida in-spite of such a big discrimination from house owners. Thanks to Team Room Soom for coming with such an idea to solve this real life problem. I strongly recommend Room Soom to you all if looking for an accommodation and don’t wanna be control by shitty house owners.
