WAA Lecture/Artist Talk Series Press Release July 2017

The Wurtsboro Art Alliance will be hosting a lecture series on the second Saturday of each month between June and October starting at 5pm at The John Neilson Gallery.

On July 8th at 5pm, we will have Seiso Paul Cooper, Sensei and Kagayaki, Karen Morris of Two Rivers Zen Communityfrom Narrowsburg, N.Y., who will present “Sitting Within the Impulse of the Poem: From Haiku to Tanka to Lyric, and Back Again.” This workshop will begin with basic instruction in the practice of zazen or “just sitting” meditation as a way of entering a focused experiential study of the here and now sensibilities of the Japanese poetic forms Haiku and Tanka.

Seiso Paul Cooper, Sensei the director and guiding teacher at Two Rivers Zen Community in Narrowsburg, N.Y., is an ordained Soto Zen priest and an award-winning author and poet. Karen Morris is a psychoanalyst in private practice in Narrowsburg, N.Y. and New York City who specializes in creativity and adult onset trauma. Karen is also an award-winning author and poet.

The John Neilson Gallery is located on 73 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro, NY. This event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door to help support the Wurtsboro Arts Alliance.
