Two types of problems
QUALITY PROBLEMS involve a risky, forward-thinking decision
that will often take you to another stage of progress in your
life. Examples: career decisions, committing to a relationship,
committing to a new standard in life.
SAFE PROBLEMS are lingering, self-imposed feeling-states
which come from a lack of sustainable ways to meet one’s
needs and a lack of vision for one’s life. Examples: depression,
addictions, blaming others, avoiding decisions, withdrawing
from relationships. If you are getting upset without taking
action, or if you are upset about factors that are out of your
control (such as events in the past) then you are “maintaining”
a safe problem.
