Pay to be on Google
So, if you’ve been involved in internet marketing or have ever wanted to create a website in the past, you’ve obviously heard the term SEO — Search Engine Optimization. And if you know anything about SEO, you’ll know the exorbitant fees that come with getting your website to appear higher in a google search.
The idea of SEO is simple: add keywords around your website, and reinforce them, to trick a search engine into listing your website higher than a competitor by making the content on your website more relevant to what people are searching for. For example, if you owned a pizza company in Tampa, Florida, you may want an SEO professional to add keywords like “pizza tampa” or “pizza restaurant tampa” or “local pizza restaurant,” or something similar.
Still confused? I totally understand, and I was too when I first started learning about it. However, this is somewhat on purpose. Once people realize just how simple it is to set up SEO for most businesses, the market will oversaturate itself and therefore most professionals keep their methods to themselves in an effort to preserve their control of the market and keep prices artificially high. In time, however, the market will open up and allow for more competition, bringing down the price of setting up SEO. It’s just a matter of time.
That said, does that mean you should hold off on purchasing? Sure, if you want to lose out on valuable business and risk another similar business securing your vital top spot on search results. According to research, 85% of Americans searching for a product or service start their search online. So if your site isn’t optimized, your competitors are taking your business.
Now, how valuable is SEO, and how important is it for your website to have it? The answer is obvious: It’s extremely important. Because of just how important it is, and just how necessary it is to a business’ wellbeing, it comes with a very high pricetag. To set up several keywords, the average hourly rate is around $75-$150. A very pricy job, but one you may just have to shell out the cash for if you need your website to rank.
On top of that, the average SEO retainer costs anywhere from $1500-$3000 — a month. An absolutely exorbitant cost, but could pay off in massive dividends if the SEO is done correctly.
