Honoring France in the Midst of Tragedy

The Product Hunt team was devastated to hear the news about the series of terrorist attacks in Paris last Friday. Many of us have friends in Paris — which meant we, like the rest of the world, worried about our loved ones. We oscillated between watching the devastating news and searching to ensure those we knew made it safely to their homes.

Beyond those we know personally, the Product Hunt community extends to Paris and the rest of Europe. Every day, our community looks for and shares the best products being created around the world—whether it be an app, a podcast, a game, or a book. And, so many of our favorite products and makers have emerged out of France. We are constantly in awe of and grateful for the innovativeness of Paris and other cities throughout the country.

We can only begin to fathom the grief and heavy heartedness on the ground in France. But, what we know for sure is that France is a resilient country; they have overcome so much, and continue to be leading creators and innovators in Europe and beyond. We also want to take a moment to recognize other countries who have experienced acts of terror lately. Though they are not getting as much press coverage, we are devastated for those impacted by tragedy in Iraq, Lebanon, Kenya, Egypt, Yemen, Turkey, Syria, Israel, and beyond. Our warmest thoughts and hopes for healing go out to all of those who are part of the Product Hunt community in these countries, or have been affected by acts of terror around the world.

In the midst of heartbreaking tragedy, we want to shine a light on the good things that have come out of France. Below are just a few of the incredible products that have been born out of the country and/or created by French founders. If you have a moment, please reach out to these companies and their teams to encourage them as they continue to be pillars of strength and transformation for France, and for the rest of the world.

We are sending our warmest thoughts and hopes for healing to all of France—and all of the talented founders and teams who call France home—during this somber time.
