The Golden Kitty Awards: 2015 Winners

2015 has been an awesome year and over the last week we’ve been celebrating some of the very best products and people to hit the pages of Product Hunt this year. And thus The Golden Kitty Awards were born. Thousands of votes were cast and, after much deliberation, the Product Hunt community has selected the very best across 9 categories. So without further ado, these are your 2015 Golden Kitty award winners!

Tech Product of the Year:
Slash Keyboard 2.0

If you’ve been using the default keyboard on your iOS device, might we suggest you get your head examined? The latest version of Slash Keyboard adds awesome GIF functionality, proximity search and, most importantly, emoji search tools. Truly a game-changing app for keyboards on mobile devices.

Maker of the Year:
Pieter Levels, Founder of the Nomad List

Finding retreats for your start-up and the best cities to work in remotely got a lot easier thanks to Pieter Levels. That’s not to mention the personal travel assistant he built in a week just for fun. This guy is kind of a machine and is well worth keeping an eye on to see just where he’s going next.

Mac App of the Year:
Polymail

The death of Mailbox left a gaping hole in the world of mail apps on Mac. Thankfully Polymail swooped in to save the day. offering up some great features like keyboard shortcuts to unsubscribe as well as some pitch-perfect UX work. If you’re ready for a new email client, Polymail makes a very strong case.

Game of the Year:
Alto’s Adventure

Not all forever-runners are created equal. In this gorgeous snowboarding game, you’re tasked with staying alive, snagging coins and pulling off tricks to maintain your speed. The hardest part? Staying upright and focused instead of just staring at the fabulous artwork.

Podcast Episode of the Year:
The Tim Ferriss Show — Jamie Foxx

What happens when Silicon Valley and Hollywood collide? Awesomeness. Foxx offers some super personal insights into his life, his career and how he works out. Our favorite bit, though? A story about a $1,000,000 party thrown by Puff Daddy.

WTF Product of the Year:
Ship Your Enemies Glitter

Book of the Year:
The Martian

Even though The Martian was first released several years ago, this year’s launch of the Matt Damon movie made it a must-read book. Both funny and scientifically accurate, it’s the best portrayal of how to survive on the surface of Mars for an extended period of time.
