So let me get this right….because we are no longer hung from trees, everything is ok? Because police departments are no longer allowed to sic their dogs on us, beat us and kill us out in the open (even though it still happens in much smaller numbers), everything is ok? Because fire departments aren’t hosing down protesters, everything is ok? Because Affirmative Action is a thing, everything is ok?

No. Everything is not ok. Everything is better than it was, granted. But it is not ok. People with ethnic sounding names are still 50% less likely to get a job. Black people are still more likely, per avg, to be confronted by police than whites. Studies have shown that whites and blacks commit drug related crimes at the same rate but blacks are disproportionately arrested for those offenses. And, they usually get longer sentences than the whites that are arrested. That is not okay. Look. I get white people are tired of dealing with race. And honestly, we are too. But because you personally feel these are minor issues, does not make them minor issues. They are minor to YOU because YOU do not have to deal with it on a regular basis.
