Fire Rated Glass used in Defender® BAL FZ Windows and Doors.
Glass used in our BAL FZ windows and doors is a borosilicate glass with a high ability to resist temperature differentials. With higher softening temperatures, this allows the glass to self-support for 30 minutes. Including the added benefit of remaining transparent under thermal load which is very critical especially when you are choosing “STAY AND DEFEND”

Fire Rated EMBER SCREEN (FIRE ATTENUATION) Defender® BAL FZ Screens.
The AFC Defender® Screen consists of a proprietary steel sub-frame engaging high quality stainless steel mesh. This special mesh is coated in black polyester to reduce light reflection and maximize clarity of view. Note: that the angle of light relative to the AFC Defender® Screen provides radiation attenuation to protect windows close to a boundary [Class 2–9] or to provide BAL FZ Bushfire Perth WA performance to AS3959–2009 for Class 1 and 10 construction. Fire Engineers use this data in their design and calculations to determine whether the radiation attenuation is sufficient to prevent non-piloted ignition and therefore fire spread to nearby materials/buildings.
AFC Defender — Radiation Attenuation Screen Specially developed for Fire Engineers and Architects to be used in lieu of deemed-to-satisfy systems, this solution can also provide security.
WHY CHOOSE A DEFENDER SCREEN?

- Minimal side wall clearance/usage requirements.

Building or renovating your home can be quite daunting, adding to the process can sometimes overwhelm a new home owner or renovator. Previously protecting to BAL FZ would have proved a budget/design challenge, but we have changed this process.
WE work with you, YOUR architect and builder from design to install.
Our professional team of experts will provide you with helpful advice on both aesthetic and practical design considerations for your home. They are trained to understand your needs and to meet your requirements. Our team are there with you from inspiration and design, to supply and installation.
Defending to the end:
Even after the fire front has passed our systems are still defending your home. Many homes destroyed in bushfire survive the passing of the initial fire front only to succumb to embers and debris borne on the wind. The complete Defender® series requires only a 10m separation zone from vegetation, which allows you to keep the beautiful land around your home for years to come.
