I was attracted to your article by the title. I am not familiar with its use in Buddhism, but it appears in a sequence of verses on slavery and menial labor in Joshua (9:21–23). It was also used in 1879 as a critique of Canada’s over-reliance on natural resources as the main source of economic growth. Having said that, I did like the distinction between sketching and drawing.
