One problem with you general premise. Yelp is losing money. Lots of it. Don’t let their size fool you, they are on the brink. You can’t just raise wages and expect a company to function when it is bad shape. (You might say then go out of business! Which is valid, no response ATM)

Not to mention, free healthcare and free food is a pretty dramatic padding to her wages, pushing her well above the $15 an hour level that progressives in this country are so adamant about.

And it also would appear that her freelancing was paying less than a similar hourly job (barista, fast-food, etc.) so that may be another poor choice on her part.
