Cenk Uygur impressed me with his Ellison interview on 201707–17. At first his approach seemed indirect, yet in retrospect it is clear that it was a separation of interests that Cenk wanted to honour which is something to appreciate.

Keith Ellison recently ran for DNC Party Chair against Tom Perez. Tom Perez appoint Keith Ellison as Deputy Chair. The Party Leadership race had many candidates. Perez won.

The America’s over-zealous ‘Christians’ continue their campaign for supremacy over other faiths in general and against the Islamic faith and religious practices in particular. This dislike includes anyone associated with or supporting Muslims, especially the offshoot (yet, authentically Muslim) African-American Muslim community. Keith Ellison happens to be Muslim although he was raised as a Roman Catholic and converted during his college years.

Cenk Interview Approach

Watching the interview, as an aware native citizen and nonpartisan, I wanted Cenk to come out and ask: “So, what do you think of JusticeDemocrats?” I was thinking, “Why doesn’t he drop the question?” The answer, after reflection, is three-fold (probably obvious to people who operate in the political arena which I do not):

1 - Cenk has professional experience with interviewing, in general, and politicians in particular. He was prepared: nothing off-the-cuff about the 28mins with Ellison, very thoughtfully put together (unlike a lot of alt-media videos on YouTube …more on this later).

2 - JusticeDemocrats is irrelevant in some ways because, rather than being an effort to establish a separate entity, it is a name for a revitalization campaign as an initiative within the Democratic Party to communicate ideas to an audience, a broad audience, in my opinion, all citizens (hopefully) …particularly Progressives, Liberals, Independents, and then, specifically, Democrats. Americans need to see and hear practical, high-integrity political interests and debates so that their citizen responsibilities (civic duty), such as selection of appropriate representation, would attract and engage them again.

In my view, there are Progressives and Liberals on the Right and the Left, yet in recent years …certainly, during the presidential cycle for 2016, many of them have defected into the ‘Independent’ sanctuary (or, the Green Party) as a response to the ultra-Right (socially motivated, mostly religious) and influence from the alt-Right (money and guns) take-over of the Republican Party. The same is true of previously loyal Democrats who have bailed from the Party over the years as their ill-begotten effort to enter the craze of the fund-raising race took hold and brought them closer and closer into corruption practices.

The problem with the Democratic Party, in my opinion, has not been that they became corrupt intentionally, the external competing with Republicans setting the bar, led them into the path. Some people point to Bill Clinton, yet looking deeper, and knowing that B.Clinton (from Arkansas) had little choice before the days of social media, than to seek financing from big backers in seeking the DNC’s blessing and nomination. The Internet and social media are game-hangers for politics, yet for 2016 the Democrats did not harness their potential and still have not re-focus their efforts as aggressively and effectively as the Republican Party.

Despite efforts to manipulate them, I maintain that Libertarians (including Derrick Broze refer to Agorism Conscious Resistance)and others, originally and purely, express Left-spectrum interests as do Democratic Socialists of America, refer website http://www.dsausa.org. Therefore, all of these groups have a collective interest in the success of the Justice Democrats in re-focusing the Democratic Party toward its core values. Cenk, related to his involvement with JusticeDemocrats does not need (nor does the group) the DNC’s approval nor validation.

3 - Finally, The Young Turks is not operating for JusticeDemocrats, it preceded them and is completely separate organization.

His approach was shrewd: I truly appreciate Cenk Uuk in his interview mode: the style, the presence that he projects, and being committed to the moment.

Point-by-point, Ellison as a progressive Democrat verified the DNC’s interest in the JusticeDemocrat’s Platform https://justicedemocrats.com/Platform, they discussed:

Representing the peoples’ interests

Corruption stemming from money in politics

Single payor (universal healthcare)

Drugs

Money in politics

What is wrong with Capitalism?

Cenk also ask about Keith’s run for DNC Chair and a negative campaign from the Obama Administration. They neglected to delve into what Obama had experienced because of his name and family background. There have been many misgivings about Ellison’s possible ties to particularly circumspect Muslim groups. Obama has mentioned negative campaigns against him in various interviews which accused him of being a Muslim operating under he pretence of being a Christian.

Will Ellison’s Muslim ties bring continuing issues to the DNC in a time when the Party’s success is crucial?

Probably, the answer is yes given the prevailing combination of ignorance and convenience in demonizing the Muslim Community. Nevertheless, Ellison will work tirelessly to support Americans in the quest for healthcare, better education and jobs.

However, people have seen through the spears and appreciate Ellison for his strategy and speech-making prowess as well as his staying power in support of the Democratic Party.
