The problem with social justice warriors

As a leftist it is difficult to write critical about social justice warriors, mainly because conservatives are the most vocal about about this issue.

You shouldn’t think or act a certain way according to your gender, race or social status, most people would agree with this. On the surface it seems that this is what social justice warriors advocate, but if you try to criticize them you’re often called a white supremacist, privileged or you’re trying to mansplain. Discrediting a person because they are male, white or privileged in itself is attacking someone on their gender, race or social status. This type of divisive thinking has nothing to do with social equality. The irony here is that the most vocal social justice warriors are privileged university and college students who can afford their education.

When you advocate for equality you’re in dangerous territory. If everyone in school gets the same grades because they’re all equal, regardless of their effort it would be considered unfair, and rightfully so. In this sense anarchists and socialists have a better way of dealing with unfairness using the method “from each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs.” Rocket scientists are not going to waste their time with growing food, and farmers aren’t going to waste their time trying to understand rocket science but they benefit each other.

If you want to restructure society it is vitally important you put the focus on the unequal distribution of resources in order to give people better living conditions. Mindlessly attacking each other based on character just because you disagree with them causes even more division and one could argue it even promotes segregation. Free speech is important when you try to challenge society and to develop your argumentative skills. People don’t have the right not to be offended, and safe spaces aren’t going to protect you from the real world. I personally don’t take offense in people disagreeing with me and instead use their arguments in my own work to discredit them by pointing out their distorted views of reality.

People often claim to be assaulted when they get attacked online by multiple individuals, yet it’s exactly these people who use the same tactics when their views are challenged in the form of modern day witch hunts. These social justice warriors start massive campaigns to get people to resign or to publicly apologize for having an opinion. A waste of time if you ask me.
