Peering Mountain

Peering down the mountain side
The sun sets behind green rolling hilltops.

White clouds decorate a blue sky turning black
The sun turns from bright yellow to a burning orange.

Birds flutter around the tree tops singing their songs
Chicks chirping in hunger, anticipating food and flight.

The beauty in this world is rich and rife
Cyclical and complex yet simple.

I sit atop this mountain peering down at the valley below
Wondering how the world can be so beautiful and chaotic.

Why, if He is so, has God put me on this Earth?
Why is this rock hurdling through space and time?

If I stay still and silent will the answers come to me?
Questions that may not have answers.

The setting sun has disappeared behind the hills
Waiting to emerge and mark the beginning of a new day.

The sky is black now, dotted with stars and a partial moon
Intp the dim valley I peer from my mountain top.
