“Until death do us apart”: An unusual Saint Valentine touring Lisbon’s Cemetery dos Prezeres
Are you tired of having Valentine’s dinners in crowded restaurants or waiting almost an hour for impossibly expensive taxis? Wouldn’t you like to make something that you and your partner will truly remember during your stay in Lisbon? How about touring Lisbon’s one of the most famous cemetery and hearing about some of the best love stories of this city’s history!
This year, Lisbon’s town hall organized the “Até a que a morte nos separe” tour (portuguese for “until death do us apart”). A walk through the Cemitério dos Prazeres and some of his famous tombstones — always related to love, of course. For example, the story of Isabel Paim y Alejandro Holstein, two lovers who met each other very young, but lived an impossible romance: she was engaged to the son of the famous Marqués do Pombal.
The Cemetery it’s considered an open air museum, and it’s located on the top of a hill that has an amazing view to the Tejo River. Also, you can get there by taking the famous -and very romantic- Lisbon’s yellow trams, that stops only 400 meters away from the OnJ Aparthotel.
What are you waiting? The guided tours are free!
Ahh and if you still wanna have that Valentine’s dinner, OnJ Aparthotel has a partnership with Supper stars, a team of top chefs that go home (in this case they go to OnJ) and cook special meals just for you and your partner. More details here or talk with us at the reception.
Where? Cemitério dos Prazeres is on Praça São Joao Bosco 568, Lisboa. Protip: you can get there by taking the famous 28E or the 25E yellow trams.
