How do Accent Walls fit into your list of New Build Priorities?

“When the walls are plain white, it always reminds you that you’re just at home, but with these accent walls, the kids love looking at it, our guests always talk about it, even the contractors ask how we did these walls!”

I asked Jesus how he planned and prioritized accent walls against all the tasks of a new build, he sadly replied:

“We didn’t have any plan because our excitement for completing the house faded away.”

Get this, Jesus & Maria started building their forever home, um, 25 MONTHS ago.

They just moved in. We installed their accent walls in June.

The lumber supply shortage & supply chain crisis delayed the process to the ends of their sanity.

It’s a profoundly beautiful home in Lakeway, TX that just kept churning out headaches: Sewage, electrical, water…even the garage stairs are causing major problems.

As Jesus and Maria remember, they didn’t have an idea for interior design because so many other priorities we dragging them in different directions.

They wanted a little guidance, so they reached to 3 interior designers. Nothing worked out.

They went to a few furniture stores claiming to be interior experts. That didn’t work out.

They decided to do it themselves, so they reached out to us: Oakmond Gold Accent Walls.

I came out. We walked through their space to organize a sense of flow. They showed me the colors of their furniture to be delivered, and stain color of the table.

We decided that the stain of the floor and the stain of table left a nice pallet gap for a variance of wood grains.

The cream and whites were going to play lead in the home, so we decided (together), that some vertical texture in eating area (scaling a corner and 2 walls) would:

  1. Heighten the perception of the walls, without disrupting the consistency of the open concept room
  2. Create textured dimensions
  3. (most importantly) Carve out a separate cove for the family within the great room, because they spend so much time together there

Jesus describes the experience of these walls as “going to a different place within my home.”

He added “When the walls are plain white, it always reminds you that you’re just at home, but now, the kids love looking at it, our guests comment on it, even our contractors ask how we did this!”

We also installed an elegant geometric design in their formal dining room that acts as a “surprise for guests”.

Without hesitation, I can tell you that it was our honor and delight to work with Maria & Jesus at a time when they needed to see some projects completed on time, and without a headache.

That’s all for today, folks.
