Bangalore’s smart city plan for Malleswaram and Shivajinagar

A bicycle tour around the sparkling Ulsoor Lake and a bike sharing network are among the fantasy projects Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has for the city. The municipality all set to submit its proposal under the smart city effort to the Centre, and has drawn up strategies for 17 wards in the central business District (CBD).

Other proposals include app-enabled car parking in Shivajinagar, digital information planks for tourists, electric vehicle charging points, and {rebirth|resurrection} of historic markets. The corporation’s proposal focuses on 17 wards in Gandhinagar, Malleswaram, Shivajinagar and Chamarajpet. All these areas will result in substantial growth in Real estate in Bangalore.

BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said the smart city designing record would be submitted to the Centre soon. He further added that The CBD area has been taken up for redevelopment under smart city initiatives.

In its earlier attempt to get central funds, the civic body had proposed Mahadevapura as the smart city zone. They found that most smart city assignments approved by the Center projected CBD areas for redevelopment. So they picked CBD areas in Bengaluru this time. The area to be selected for development, should have the approval coming through, that covers 21. 8sqkm and the population size 5. 24 lakh.
