Real World Play-And-Earn with D.O. 119: Our Solana Blockchain Integration Roadmap (part I)
Key roadmap for investors, players, and community members to ensure ProtoReality Games becomes a play-to-earn (P2E) market leader.
On the back of successful private and public sales of $PRGC, and recent Token Generation Event (TGE) event, we share on our roadmap of ProtoReality Games deep adoption of blockchain functionality and token utility.
We spent Q4 2021 thoroughly studying Solana, our chosen layer 1 protocol for its many benefits of speed, low cost, smart contract programs, and native non-fungible token (NFT) capability. Enablers like Arweave, Metaplex and robust Solana wallets (like Phantom, Solflare, Sollet, etc.) today confirm we made the right decision.
In cutting to the punchline, we believe Solana is the best infrastructure to directly embed into the gameplay of Derivative Outstation 119 (D.O. 119) for a superior play-to-earn experience. Our priority is low friction, seamless interaction, and in-game token/NFT use.
To realize this outcome, we will run a 6 part series on our blockchain technology roadmap. We focus first on the rationale. In this part 1, we go into details on the protocol choice. Our next features unpack the details — wallets design, in-game $PRGC spend and NFTs mods.
1: An Embedded Experience in D.O. 119
In the last 4 months since the launch of ProtoReality Games, our expert Unity engineers and amazing graphic designers have been building out an incredible experience. This sets the foundation for D.O. 119.
While the gaming experience is our priority, the economic interactions are key. We looked to Solana for a superior solution:
- Performance: Solana simply has incredible performance for a Layer-1 protocol with lightning fast confirmations.
- Scalability: The proven scalability of Solana to burst to 50,000 on-chain transactions per second is aligned to our long-term growth.
- Maturity: Wallets, Block Explorers, DEX, Fiat On-Off Ramps, Stablecoins and overall robustness of Solana ecosystem.
- NFT: Metaplex 1.2 NFT spec with support for mint & update authority, immutability, primary and secondary market listings, is perfectly suited to our in-game use.
- Smart Contracts (Programs): on-chain NFT buying and selling of in-app skins, collectables, capabilities, and audio tracks directly from within Unity game environments.
2: Growing Adoption Of Solana
Solana’s growth has been unprecedented. It has been the primary choice for many P2E games. We see the emergence of a loyal, dedicated community. It is a single-layer blockchain and guarantees composability and scalability for D.O. 119 players.
Solana differentiates from other blockchains in its consensus mechanism. Solana’s network allows for a theoretical throughput of 65,000 transactions per second (tps) and has an estimated 1,450 nodes operating the network. Today, it already averages ~3000 tps.
As DeFi and non-fungible token (NFT) ecosystems have emerged in the last two years, other networks like Ethereum’s have become overwhelmed and unreasonably expensive. We feel Solana offers what other networks can not: fast transactions at very little cost. This is a perfect match for $PRGC and D.O. 119 in-game NFTs.
Solana itself is maturing. Its mainnet operates in Beta. While these early days experienced some instability, the performance keeps improving and reliability increasing day-by-day.
3: PRGC Token Utility
We reached a first milestone by the successful launch of our utility token $PRGC. Token Generation Event (TGE) took place, as we promised during our public sales, on 26 February. $PRGC started trading on Raydium. $PRGC is a key to our in-game economy for gameplay, buying, selling and spending within D.O. 119.
Now imagine the futuristic setting of D.O. 119, you have a handful of $PRGC in your backpack, use these tokens in-game, and the ability to move tokens seamlessly in-and-out of the platform. You download the game and gain access to a secured on-chain wallet for direct interactions with the real-world. Your wallet, your keys, and your tokens:
- On-Chain: unlike traditional games with synthetic internal ledgers, D.O. 119 gives players direct access to an on-chain wallet.
- Utility: the Solana based token is the economic unit used in the game for trade and marketplace transactions.
- Trading: as you play, barter, buy/sell and trade NFT mods stored in your backpack and exchange them on any marketplace, in-game and external.
The use of $PRGC for in-game transactions brings out the true utility of the token. It looks like we will have sticky, relevant utility. We believe this will drive a strong creative ecosystem.
4: Building An Ecosystem
Our novel approach to embedding a crypto-economic mechanism into the game is unique for players to coordinate their activities without a centralized, rent-extracting party. This goes beyond $PRGC by transacting on exchanges, via Metaplex marketplaces, and taking assets out of D.O. 119 into your own cold wallets. This successful ecosystem is enabled by key drivers:
- Collective Ownership — the game is owned by its players with aligned incentives, and thereby creates a deep loyalty and drives growth.
- Frictionless Interactions — on-chain token and NFTs allow for interactions both in-game and outside D.O. 119.
- Credible Neutrality — by placing the assets directly in the control of players, D.O. 119 maintains neutrality thus giving all stakeholders guarantee of ownership and fair, equal access.
Given society’s collective experience with centralized structures, our natural approach is to address the collective ownership in a decentralized approach. It is not ProtoReality Games to decide over how you use your tokens, but each player by their own direct on-chain claim to their assets.

These four pillars substantiate ProtoReality Games adoption of Solana, and engineering the technically complex implementation for in-game D.O. 119 use. This brings huge utility for $PRGC, and we’re building out the foundations for a superior gaming experience.
