Do Windows 10 Right

You’ve been seeing the little white icon in your taskbar for a month or two, you’ve been hearing that the next version of Windows is coming soon and something about it being a free upgrade…

Well, as of today, Wednesday, July 29, 2015, it’s here. Windows 10 is here.

You’re going to start seeing it in stores, bundled on new computers, advertised pretty much everywhere.

And if you’re running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, your own computer is going to continue to remind you that you can painlessly upgrade for free. We know they’re right about the “free;” the “painlessness” we’re less sure about.

Don’t get us wrong; Windows 10 is looking to be an absolutely magnificent product. We’re looking forward to it, big time.

But if you’re running a computer where it’s important that you don’t take any chances losing data if something goes wrong, or if you run a small business and you’re unsure whether your business software will survive the transition and can’t afford much downtime, jumping right in to the Do-It-Yourself approach to the Windows 10 upgrade might not be the best way to go.

What are WE doing on our machines at PRR Computers?

  1. We’re making sure we have FULL image backups.
  2. We’re making sure our computers are in a clean and healthy state.
  3. We’re carefully planning the timing of the upgrade to minimize downtime.

It might not be immediately apparent to everyone how to do these things. That’s why we have put together some really simple packages designed to make the whole Windows 10 upgrade process safer and smarter for you, too.

For just $99 in our computer shop in Estero, FL, we’ll make a full image backup of your existing hard drive, and we’ll keep it in our secure vault for 60 days. Turnaround time: same day/next day w/ appointment. That means if your DIY Windows 10 upgrade doesn’t go the way you expected, your machine can be fully rolled back to your old setup — as if the upgrade never happened. (Rollback fee is just $50)

Do you suspect your existing computer might not be in the best shape? Installing the Windows 10 upgrade over an untidy Windows 7 or 8.1 setup may have the same effect as applying a new coat of paint on a wall with the old paint bubbled and peeling: a royal mess. And if your hard drive itself is worn out, installing a new Windows version isn’t going to help that one bit. Our $199 Fresh Start solution is the answer. Fresh Start service replaces your hard drive and performs a clean reinstall of your Windows operating system while preserving your data files and settings. Turnaround time: same day/next day w/ appointment.

Would you rather have full service treatment, where we get your computer in its best health AND perform the Windows 10 upgrade for you? For a limited time, we’ll do the full image backup w/ 60 days vault storage, the Fresh Start service (incl. brand new hard drive up to 500 GB), and the Windows 10 upgrade for $349 flat. Turnaround time 1–2 business days (Saturday included) w/ appointment.

Have a business where you need some of these services performed on site for multiple computers? Contact us today for a custom volume-discounted quote to perform any of these normally in-shop-only services on site at your place of business, on a schedule that minimizes disruption of your daily operations.

However you decide to proceed, we wish you all the best as you make the move to Windows 10. Stay calm, don’t rush it, and if you do end up needing help, you know who to call.
