Social media is on the rise in recent years, it has tremendously changed the way people communicate and express themselves, especially the younger generation.

Instagram, the most famous photo sharing platform in the world, is making the headlines for impacting negatively young people.

In this post, I want to share pieces of information I found online about Instagram and anxiety. Bringing the topic to light is just the first step to understand, accept and fight the problem.

What is going on?

Pretty much everyone knows about or use Instagram. Who never posted a selfie on a sunny day or photographed that amazing holiday out? Well, Instagram was created initially to be used by creative people, those who have a sense of photography to expose their art to an ample community. Its interface was designed to be easy to use and filters could be used to add an extra touch of glam to the images. …

Take Your Pills is an interesting documentary recently released by Netflix, it caught my attention as it deals with the use of stimulants to work. Since the use of medications of all sorts are becoming connected to today’s working reality, I’m taking the opportunity to bring the topic for debate.

Brief Intro

Adderall and Vyvanse contain both amphetamines in their formula, meanwhile Ritalin and Concerta have methylphenidate, component usually attributed to the treatment of narcolepsy (neural disorder causing excessive sleepiness). Although, all of them can be addictive, I’ll focus on this post in pills containing amphethamine.

Amphetamine Abuse in the Past

During the WWII, Amphetamine was largely consumed by soldiers for the purpose of boasting soldiers’ resiliency in face of extreme adversities during the combats. The substance became popular ever since. …

I’m currently working in a game company called BongFish, Austria, curating data for an AAA undisclosed title. Although I was hired as a Data Labeler, I also interface other departments and therefore I also perform other activities in the company.

I decided to write about the game industry today, because it revolves around dreams of many people who crave for finally working into something with meaning to them. Only few other industries arise so much genuine interest as the game industry does.

Indeed I love my job, there is something quite cool about game companies that makes the work much more pleasurable. However, I have to be honest showing you both sides of the same story. But don’t be afraid, this post isn’t meant in any way to discourage you from applying to a game studio. …

Days pass by, but the debate persists, the ICT sector is eliminating job positions by automating tasks commonly executed by human force. It is estimated 236m jobs in China, 120m in India and 73m in the US are going to be eliminated by 2030 (McKinsey Global Institute, 2017) due to the rise of automated activities. Indeed, artificial intelligence and internet of things combined will inevitably eliminate many workforces around the world whereas technology develops. However, there are also plenty of new opportunities being created out of it, data labeling is just one of them.

Data labeling is the manual curation of data by humans on machine learning and AI applications. Labeling data is essential because computers have innumerable limitations, and some of them cannot be simply solved without human intervention. Actually, a computer can be programmed to perform hard calculations and automate activities that would be too burdensome to be done manually by us, however the same is unable to tell the difference between a car from a dog in a picture without proper training. In summary, computers use an algorithm to learn based in a dataset, what usually requires the supervision of someone. Roughly we call it supervised machine learning because computers need human supervision to get trained to execute tasks that are tricky for machines, but definitely easy for humans such as image recognition. Hence the need for a data labeler. …

The idea of customer centricity was born from the need to calculate Customer Life Time Value (CLV) in a more realistic way. Avid customers no longer can be compared to less frequent customers, because from the financial viewpoint customers with different expenditures have a different value for the company.

Calculating CLV accurately allows you to invest more in core customers and also save your money on investing in the wrong segment. Customer Centricity is a concept that has a great benefit in terms of efficiency, as it helps marketers to allocate better their resources.

However, customer centricity doesn’t imply in ignoring less profitable customers, it actually acknowledges there should be a differentiation when calculating what is worth investing in each segmentation. Should the company spend with retargeting with anyone browsing their website or only with signed in users? It may worth for big companies, but for small businesses, it makes a huge difference in their monthly cashflow. …

I want to propose a toast to us, I want to propose something to you. Get a glass of wine, a beer, a whiskey, a juice, a cup of water, whatever gives you pleasure to drink while you read this.

You probably have heard about loving yourself a lot, it seems the magical solution for whatever problem you have in life. If you are feeling bad, if you are being rejected, if you don’t have confidence in yourself; probably someone will tell you that you should “love yourself” more. But what is the recipe to start loving yourself? Is it all about getting fit and feeling pretty? …

Customer Churn is a metric used to quantify the number of customers who left the company. For SaaS businesses, it can be defined by those who unsubscribed or canceled the service contracted earlier. But for e-commerce companies selling a product which doesn’t require a subscription, it can be quite tricky to tell when a customer churned.

All together with other metrics, Customer Churn can be crucial to evaluate customer satisfaction over periods of time, especially when measuring negative impacts which recent changes on the website, product supplier and others may have caused customers to leave.

ex: you have launched a new layout on your e-commerce platform and subsequently the number of customers churned increased. …

Artificial Intelligence is being largely discussed nowadays by its potential to automate tasks that required repetitive manual work. It isn’t the scope of this text to analyze if AI will replace humans in the future, rather I propose here how AI can indeed help PR professionals on their daily work.

If you have an agency full of clients, you probably already realized how exhausting is engaging with the public on social media, liking, replying, following, searching all over again for every single account you manage daily. …

These days, after completing more than two years that I’ve been living abroad, I started to understand the importance of being sentimentally bilingual.

Sentimentally bilingual people are those who are able to connect themselves emotionally to phrases or statements in a foreign language. It is common to believe in the idea that we tend to relate to phrases written in our mother tongue. It means that in general translations don’t reach us with the same intensity.

If you aren’t an English native speaker “I love you” won’t drive your emotions as much as the equivalent in your own language and vice-versa. …
