The Religious War

Religion is the sign of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. It is the opium of the people. — Karl Marx.

Make no mistake, I’m neither here to lecture you on how you should be a Human of the World nor advocate a Spiritual Quest of any sort. I believe that the Law of Karma was coined by a bunch of sore losers who didn’t the stomach to set things right by themselves. Do you see somebody helping another, expecting to be rewarded? No, all I have to gain from a random act of kindness is some mental peace, in this chaotic rubble.

As an engineering student, my professor would always point out that the key to managing chaos was to understand Variation. For those of you that need to catch up, Variation would be this big, bad ass, random phenomenon that would mess up all my data. We live in an Information Age where a lot of information comes to us in the form of numbers, but, numbers have a tendency to be random in nature. If I needed to build a door for a certain ballroom, I would be required to estimate the height of people that were to pass by these doors. Let’s say this particular ballroom was in the Buckingham Palace, and I magically received data with the heights of all the people in England. As you already guessed, this would never suffice, since Buckingham Palace has visitors from all over the globe. Religion was only given birth to manage this Variation, to pseudo-unify people. Of course, no Ruler wanted to rule Buckingham Palace alone! Wait, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

So I am trying to make sense of these repeated iterations, the randomness, the chaos, and the only thought that comes to mind is that, this mindless, religious fanaticism, would ultimately erode you from the inside. Our human civilization has existed long before The Birth of Christ, or Krishna, or The Advent of Islam, to name a few. I am certain that it will survive this as well. Oxygen, Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Calcium and Phosphorous constitute 99% of the total body mass. We can argue that Science has come a long way, with the invention of newer, cognitive technologies. However, we still cannot perfectly synthesize a blade of grass. So the only rational approach would be to not destroy the very same things in the name of Religion, and this propaganda war.

After all, Life is Essentially a Simulation.
