Basic Introduction to Deep Learning
Oh! Another deep learning introduction article , don’t worry this is not the same as some expert writing for beginners😢 or a technical article. The purpose is to help beginners . i am also someone who started exploring this field recently😎.
As you know , you must be proficient in quantum mechanics and probabilistic assumption of motion of electron for gradient calculation, so you won’t find any concepts hard to move forward in this field.
Kudos 🎉 for surviving the above paragraph. That was just me talking shit.
Online course journey
Every machine learning engineer or data analyst/engineer/scientist you come across will agree that they used online courses as their major resource (if you come across a odd one kill🔫 him so that my theory remains true💪)
Artificial intelligence , Machine learning, Deep learning etc all are major buzz words and a lot of students go after these. What does these students do first 🤔
Dora🤷: Ah! You guessed it right , google it.
Buji🐒: Let’s ask the google how to become a Deep learning engineer
(substitute deep learning with machine learning or artificial intelligence as you need)
And the google comes up with so many articles saying the topic names and orders and others recommending not less than a dozen MOOCS(Massive Open Online Courses).
My experiences with online courses
Intro to machine learning not only teaches academic part but also touches the coding part , recommended for those who want a fast pace. I aborted the class at the start of the class actually. In the first code part everything felt spanish to me. I know basic Python but seeing numpy and class in Python for first time scared me☠️.
Read the prerequisites of course you are going to enroll before starting the course. Even if you see actual quantum physics don’t be afraid, we have google with all the information.
Machine learning course by Andrew Ng is an awesome course , best course so far in machine learning. It tries to inject the concepts in it’s pure mathematical form. If we don’t have a strong maths background their are chances that we drop the course mid way. i actually did🤐
Their is light at the end of the end of the tunnel , don’t stop midway try harder..
Hard ways to learn
Till now we have talked about online courses , it is the easiest approach . Reading text book is boring and reading documentation is worse (personal opinion😥)
Another approach of fast paced learning is official tutorials and documentation. (Recommended to me by gopi chettan aka Gopikrishnan Sasikumar ) Take the tutorial page of framework and open the documentation page , for further clarification use stackoverflow and other forums. Get a mentor from peer to peer learning communities like TinkerHub Foundation, School of Ai because you will need help for sure.
Commitment and affair
Everyone’s after her , yep man💓 you have to earn her love. Some devote atleast one hour for hundred days #100daysofml . And they post each days progress in social media with hashtag to self motivate themselves and others to follow and finish the commitment. All have their own ways you can choose yours ,their is no best way.
I am a guy who gets jealous when I see couples😤. Same is true in this case too. I go to events and in some events i see people explaining things i don’t understand (it’s like lover bragging about his girlfriend🤣) and after that i starts studying till I become normal , then I attend another event and the process continues.
Role of communities
Internet has all the resources we need , then what is the role of communities in our growth . It is mainly about two things, exposure and mentality. When people come together their arises many possibilities which were not possible otherwise for example: aifest 2.0 , school of ai meetups , kerala ai initiative fellowship etc
- Events & opportunities
Events like aifest etc now possible because of the collaboration with ai communities in kerala. companies are collaborating with ai communities for getting talented freshers .
Now across kerala various meetups take place which focuses on different sections of Ai/Ml. Where people meet each other and start learning together and collaborate on their projects etc.
3. Fellowship and project sponsorship
Kerala ai initiative is an open community dedicated to advancing AI research in Kerala by bringing together academics, researchers and industry experts alike. They provide two types of fellowship community and project. They provide sponsorship for the projects to cover cloud cost. For further details mail email@example.com
The article ends here , yeah you got cheated 😂 the title is a lie.
