Reversing Aging
Aging is not a definite “thing.” It is really an idea that describes certain physiological effects that we experience — things like wrinkles, weak bones, muscle loss, grey hair, etc. There appears to be a correlation between the number of years one lives and the effects of aging.
Is it a definite thing though? Is it definite that we must start developing wrinkles and grey hair at certain age? What about those people that look older than their chronological age? What about those people that look younger than their chronological age? Perhaps it is those outliers that can be studied to better understand the idea of aging.
What if there are factors other than the years that cause these effects? What if we are blind to them because we have learned to accept it as fact?
If anything, the wear and tear of the cells should be better indicator. And how does the wear and tear happen? Do the cells decide to degrade themselves based on the time? I don’t think the body or the cells think or operate in terms of chronological time.
I would say stress is a huge factor, whether it is the kind that’s in-your-face, or those that are so subtle, but still run in the back of the mind through the subconscious.
The thing is that the the longer we live, the more we tend to get stressed. So there is a difference in the amount of stress a 20 year old have experienced and accumulated, and the amount experienced and accumulated by a 40 year old.
You can see how one could so easily take that to mean that “time” is what causes aging.
The body is designed to heal, repair, and rejuvenate itself. So let’s say the breaking down happens. Then the body repairs itself. But maybe we start over-breaking down and under-repairing. It will build up and its effect will eventually show up as signs of aging.
But what if we were to learn to chill out and start super-repairing/rejuvenating the body? Could that reverse the effects associated with aging?
Is it really any different than a person developing cancer and then the cancer going away through whatever means? Cancer is a “condition” that is treatable or reversible. How is aging really any different?
