Politicians learned the art of appealing to your feelings from corporations. After all, you don’t seem to mind when corporations do it, do you? You don’t complain, you just give them your money. The entire economy is built on ‘feelings’ which drive stock prices and development of ‘new’ products. You can blame the GOP if you want, but it was the Democrats, during the Clinton campaign, that first used this principle to mass political effect. Win elections for the sake of winning elections, was the prime directive of Clinton, as well as Blair in the UK. Theirs was a pure advertising campaign.
