You guys are still not getting it… The question isn’t whether it’s a good idea to have the bases theoretically. Power projection only works when you can actually project power… Otherwise all that equipment stationed in far-away bases is just a liability, even American carriers are becoming a liability. The US simply does not have the dominance it once did, so its bases don’t actually scare China or Russia anymore, they’re just dead weight. The days of the US hammering into any part of the world without consequence are long gone… in fact, they were never really there to begin with (as Korea proved.) ‘Full spectrum dominance’ was always a pipe-dream that the US could not achieve even with the military budget of the rest of the world combined.
