What made me STAY at CodersFirst?
It’s relatively easy to find a job — I mean ANY job, simply one that will make it possible to you to afford living. It often happens that after joining a new company you know it was a mistake and you desperately seek something else and the ‘job hunt’ starts all over again. I was lucky to find CodersFirst when looking for my first real job and it’s been over a year now since I’m here and I’m not thinking about going anywhere else.
I’d like to share with you several reasons that MADE ME STAY AT CODERSFIRST.
1. Investing in personal development — like seriously!
CodersFirst is a company that is not afraid to invest in its employees to further develop themselves, especially when it’s serves the company’s purpose. It’s a two way street — if you show your involvement, hard work and commitment, so will the firm. Example? At some point I had to decide what will happen with my further education after finishing my BSc. I was already interested in IT sector and aimed in technical direction and CodersFirst offered me financial support in case I choose an IT-related faculty, so that I can contribute to the technical team in later perspective. So…I chose Data Science at Warsaw University of Technology, which actually wouldn’t be possible to me without financial support from the company. Thank you CF! :)
2. Having real impact on the product
We’re not a big organisation (yet ;)), thanks to which every person can freely express themselves and impact the organisation direction. Being one of the very first employees in the company means we’re the ones responsible for creating the structure and procedures inside it. Besides, as Talent Analyst we’re still participating in the development of our platform as we have the best IT market perspective and cooperate directly with IT specialists, so our input is crucial here.
3. Talking to inspiring people
I’m sure it is no surprise that as Talent Analyst I get to talk to plenty of people on daily basis. What’s great about it is that I’m speaking with very interesting people with advanced knowledge in various fields who are (or used to) work e.g. on Netflix before it was cool! The “Neflix guy” was actually recruited by me and now joined our team :). They’re creating in many cases super advanced models of AI to predict stock changes (which has not been done so far!). From some of them, I can actually learn — one of the examples if the Data Science platform kaggle.com that one of the candidates mentioned to me.
4. Friendly atmosphere and challenging tasks
I would hate coming to work everyday to the team that I have nothing to talk about and with a very different sense of humour — which is very important to me! Luckily, at CodersFirst I’m working with ambitious people who appreciate me for who I am and with whom I enjoy going out to have some pizza & drinks every now and then. We can talk about anything — from tech community, social relations till psychological aspects of murders!
5. Great office & amazing benefits!
If you’re reading this article there is 70% chance you’ve been tempted with pictures of our new office in Warsaw. I must admit — it is pretty cool. At the beginning (before we even had an office) I was working 100% remotely which may seem like a dream to some of you, but at the moment there are days when I actually prefer working in our office than at home (God bless AC!). Also, we have here uncommon and very useful benefits like Netflix & Spotify subscription, once a year we also got Eventim and Airbnb Voucher, which I’m now using for my vacation in Greece. If I stay here for 2 more years (which is very likely) on my 3 years at CodersFirst anniversary I will get around the world plane ticket, which I’m soo looking forward to!
If you feel you have a startup soul and you love getting your hands dirty with building something big totally from scratch and you’re not afraid of committing yourself to it — I would argue that join an early stage company is one of the best things you can do for yourself!
