The concept of your information “shards” scattered on a super-massive hard-drive sounds intriguing. Big concern would be having all information a single location, which does not flow with the internet strength of many locations and connection links to circumnavigate potential disaster scenarios that could wipe out the data-sinkhole. The original intent of the internet was during the cold war where the net was designed around potential large parts of the net locations being nuked! Better to have a virtual-fabric-information Shards scattered around the globe where you build-in redundancy. One never knows when Jīn sān pàng 金三胖 (“Kim Third Fat”) will succeed with his ballistic nukes.
