DwGG — Day w Google Glass
Days leading to DwGG
Inspired from Amitabh Bachchan, who starts his tweet with “T <# of days on Twitter>”, I am going to write my experiences as Google Explorer under category named as DwGG, where DwGG stands for Day with Google Glass. I am very sure I could have come with better acronym if I wasn’t writing this blog while eating.

Google glass project was first announced a couple years ago. First video was uploaded to youtube by Google in April 2012. This video described how a new project named “Glass Google Project” is all about. You can watch that video here.
Being nerd myself, I get attached to new technology very quickly. So, when I saw this video, I started thinking about the application of this device. Being not able be in Google I/O conference, I wasn’t one of the luckiest to get Google Glass. I just had to wait.
Second chance came a few months afterwards in 2013 when Google announced If I had Glass campaign. Glass enthusiasts were asked to submit their interest with what they’ll do if they had glass. All entries had to have #ifihadglass tag. I missed this campaign just to regret later as they announced thousands of winners with many of them having cat videos attached to their entries.
All of those who opted to get Google Glass were called Glass Explorers.
Another chance came in when local co-working company got invitation for Google Glass Explorer program. They tweeted their idea of time-sharing glass. Everyone who contributes $100 can share glass for 2 days and can get 1 month of subscription to their co-working facility. At this time I felt that I had glass within my reach.
Salt mines continued asking for more support…
I contributed to their campaign just to learn two news. First bad and then good.
Bad news was salt mines couldn’t find enough backers for their initiative… and good news was I got my own invite!

I got my invite on Dec 3 evening but courtesy of new Gmail changes, this email went to promotion folder, I didn’t see it until Dec 4 morning . It was one of the best Wednesday morning in recent years! I immediately opted to be part of Glass Explorers program. They promised next day shipping, and it turned out to be the next day shipping indeed.
Glass support team was fantastic to ship my Glass as soon as I paid.

Repeated refresh of UPS tracking page paid off! Google Glass arrived at my door step on Dec 5.

Btw, if you’re Ohio lawmaker, don’t get angry with below picture.
