The Future of the Republican Party (not an oxymoron)

I’d say the biggest flaw in this piece is not identifying the bad faith argument from the friend. Obama’s policies led to record levels of inequality. Does that mean that those who support Obama and his policies support inequality and aim to worsen it? No, however, that is the exact association fallacy that your friend engages in. This moralizing of politics is not unique to anyone group, but I notice it far more often on the left. The healthcare debate is exhibit A. Republicans see a different path towards a high quality and robust healthcare market, Democrats accuse them of killing those who they don’t spend taxpayer dollars on.
