I’m one of those guys who has determined that making eye contact with a woman is an infringement on her personal space; that the unseen brain behind the eyes, is full of thoughts and some of those thoughts could be salacious, and they might even be salacious thoughts of her so, in my mind, I’m a rapist. God it feels good to get that off my chest. Yeah I know I’m overstating to make a point but I’m underwhelmed by the silence of those who’ve committed themselves to the destruction of rape cultural no matter the collateral damage. What Trump said was an admission of sexual assault. It was some of the most degrading descriptions of the objectification of women heard in recent times. Where was the outrage? Where was the suggestion of taking legal action? Where were the folks who believe that a man who admits to criminal behaviour while running for President should no longer be allowed to run for office? Where are the parents who say they can’t allow their children to learn about democracy by watching this election unfold because of what D. Trump might say or do? Just to put his statement into perspective; I’ve used every word he did in that opportunistic display of sexual bravado but I’ve never said what he said. And I probably used those words in locker rooms because I played both football and hockey. But for him to suggest that it is common for guys in locker rooms to boast about bullying women into sex, or tricking them or, god forbid, actually admit to forcing themselves upon them is uncommon. Guys take pride in not having to do anything to attract women. Furthermore, the more likely conversation in locker rooms is about that play in the first period that cost us a goal, or that fourth quarter TD punt return by the defensive tackle that none of us had seen before. Donald Trump raped every American man and woman with those statements to Billy Bush. And, in the debate when he said he was going to prosecute Hillary Clinton if he got elected so she’d end up in jail is exactly what happens to political opponents in Iraq, Iran and Syria. And it’s all rolled off his back like water. In the end, you get what you deserve. I’m just hoping America doesn’t deserve Donald Trump but it’s not looking good. A Canadian perspective.
