Writing in the Daily O a certain lady Editor is at her feline best as she asks, “Is Priyanka Chopra influential enough to be on the Time cover? And mulls over how it’s embarrassing to see the height to which a good publicist can take an average actor.

Well Lady, the publicist is available. How about you hire the same one and see how far they can take you. And then perhaps you will learn that Priyanka Chopra is on the Time cover not because she has a great publicist, but because she has something that cannot be substituted. She has talent. She also has charm, charisma, presence, and a capacity to work hard and of course destiny on her side. She also has an enviable body of work and achievements.

I don’t know Priyanka, but I know of her. Priyanka Chopra is that girl from a little town in Bareilly who became Miss World at 18. She worked hard, to make a niche in an unforgiving industry where she was a soft target for star kids and stars alike. She has proven her mettle and her legacy includes movies we have loved like Barfi, Fashion, Mary Kom, and Bajirao. And her journey to Hollywood via her singing career, Qantico and now the Baywatch movie are significant landmarks. We have watched with pride as she presented at the Oscars, appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel talk Show, the Vogue cover and others. And she has aced every outing. If only publicists could make that sort of scintillating success happen.

Dont forget she has a following on Twitter of 12 million, is UNICEFS National Brand Ambassador, was once ranked second in brand endorsements only after Shah Rukh Khan, and appeared in The Huffington Post’s “100 Most Influential Women on Twitter” list, is the first Indian model to represent Guess whose CEO has called her “the young Sophia Loren”.

So heres a message for Ms Editor- Madame your blog illustrates two fables powerfully: one; Grapes are sour, and two; the Indian Crab mentality. So please, if you must, do carry on pulling everyone down, but it sure wont take you up. And heres a little message for Priyanka Chopra- You go girl– we are all so very proud of you.
