Inevitably falling short of these self-imposed superhuman expectations only reinforces the idea that we’re inferior, defeating the term's original intention. It perpetuates the imbalance where we’re seen as inherently less than others, similar to how the term “special” in special needs is seen as othering and harmful. Rather than turning us into some caricature or superhero subset, we should be recognized as fully human beings who deserve respect and dignity, regardless of our strengths or weaknesses. We all have varied talents and weaknesses, and ours may be tied to a disability, but that doesn’t make us better or less than anyone else.
