Educators Can Take Benefit Of Gaming Industry in Teaching


Games, whether online or offline are not just about amusement and pastime anymore. When you play a game either collaboratively or competitively with any other player or with your friends, then you adopted a great frame of mind, which is really is very helpful to learning. Furthermore, when anyone, particularly students play games with another student, then his or her enjoyment and interest in playing the game enhanced.

The time has gone when games seen as a way to pass the time because they have now become common in every industry, especially education. Educators are holding on to the fact that games are educational, motivational, addictive, engaging or have become a powerful tool for learning. There are many techniques that educators can learn from gaming industry and can apply them in teaching students.

· Most of the games like Pokemon tower defense games are available with a set of rules and dynamics, which help players in playing the games. However, players spend lots of time in this mechanic that makes their understanding stronger for how it works as well as boost their proficiency when applying the mechanic to solve the puzzles. Teachers can explain to students how the Pythagoras’ theorem mechanic works to solve a problem. It will increase students understanding of Pythagoras’ theorem that will them to solve complex problems.

· If teachers use games in the classroom for teaching, then students can really benefit from them. It is because sometimes abstraction or explaining concepts through images, similes, narrative or re-enactments can help students to lean a topic quickly. Games enable students to be taught on a sub textual level.

· When any player doesn’t beat a player in the game, then he /she don’t fail at the whole game. Rather, the player can try again and again. If any student failed in solving a question, then teacher allowed him to keep trying until he succeeded. It will encourage them, and build a stronger understanding of the information the student provided, as well as and he will have the chance to develop their understanding at a profound level. Doing various experiments to beat the challenger and you will get creative with your techniques / tactics. And as we try to defeat again and again, we increase our knowledge and start to understand the game better so that we can make better strategies and finally conquer the challenge.
