Designer’s Block? My favorite remedies
Have you ever felt an emptiness when you reach out inside your ever so creative head, and find nothing but disappointing ideas. I surely have, a couple of times. But I do not recommend banging your head on the wall until your creativity comes back, unless that actually works for you. Here are my top non-lethal ways to bring your creativity back from its deep sleep: —
1: Watch an Inspiring Animated Movie
Bright fun colors and wild imagination is what describes animated movies like ‘The Boss Baby’. These movies are light and require less thinking power, but showcase imaginative concepts and eye candy that will transport you into another world. These movies might be focused towards a slightly younger audience, but is a great stress reliever for adults. Some of the textures, colors and effects might encourage you to get back to the drawing board and design something cool.
2: Take a break, Go out, Enjoy yourself
This one is pretty much self explanatory. Whenever you feel mellow, just plan an outing with friends or family. Whatever takes your mind off of work and onto enjoying yourself will do. I like going to Mc.Donalds and grabbing some burgers to pep myself up. Driving up to a scenic place does wonders to the brain.
3: Workout Regularly or Often
Hey, if a carrot can do it, then you have no excuses to make. Being a marathon runner, I workout at least once a day and it helps me relieve stress and open up my mind. I often find that, on the days I do not workout, I feel less inclined towards designing and have a stressful day. If you’re not the kind of person to workout, then just do some basic exercises at home to get your body and mind moving.
4: Get a Fun & Creative Hobby
I have a couple of interesting and creative hobbies, finding weird and crazy gifs is not one of them. Getting away from work and doing what you like doing is a must. A creative hobby is like a blessing and can help keep the imagination and creative juices up. So make sure to fit in your hobby or passion in your daily schedule, and thank me later.
