The number of cases of domestic abuse continue to rise for the seventh year in a row in England and Wales, new figures show.

Official figures show more than 900,000 cases of abuse were reported to the police between April 2021 and March 2022.

According to the Home Office, domestic abuse related offences are defined as:

“as any incidence of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults, aged 16 and over, who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality.”

There has been a nearly eight percent rise in the number of cases being reported between the year 2021 and 2022.
