UK’s biggest private hospital chain sees 28% fall in turnover since acquisition

Circle Health Group’s turnover dropped more than one fourth of its previous year, according to its latest accounts report.

Between April to December 2020, the hospital group reported a turnover of about £620,000. Earlier, in March 2020, this figure stood at about £863,000 — a 28 per cent fall in a nine month period.

After acquiring BMI Healthcare in December 2019, Circle Health Group became the biggest private hospital provider in the UK.

Profit Drop by nine per cent

The company’s profit took a nine percent hit in this nine month period — from March to December 2020.

In March 2020, the gross profit was £278,000, while in December 2020, it had dropped to £251,000.

Between March 2019–2020, this was a much steeper drop — at 22 per cent. In March 2019, gross profit reported was at about £357,000, while in March 2020, this had fallen to £278,000.

In the going concern section of the financial statement, the company’s board of directors have stated:

“the directors have a reasonable expectation that the Circle Group and the Company have adequate resources available to them to continue operational existence for the foreseeable future.”
