In highscool Ihad an exchange teacher from Denmark. He said what he loved about Denmark was it was a true democracy. We told him we were taught that Denmark was a socialist country and the US was a true democracy. He then taught us about their system of government and how the US might have been called a democracy under articles of confederation but is now a constitutional/ federal republic at best. We knew he was correct but it showed us how our school system often has biases we don’t understand as a kid
