There are 30 million podcast episodes in existence. That leaves 10 US citizens for every episode that gets released.
How many podcasts are you subscribed to?
Statistically, around 6. I bet the podcasts on your list are popular, noteworthy, or have thousands of reviews on Apple podcasts.
Those shows are great but they aren’t the heart and soul of recorded art. They’re so worked over and sterile. Yeah, I said it.
To get the best podcasts you need to delve deep into the Podcatcher world where it gets dark, gross, and raw.
I’m subscribed to around 100 shows at the moment, and it’s all for you. Each month I dive deep into the internet (mostly message boards and Facebook). I ask homegrown podcasters and random people on social media about their podcasts.
I filter out most of what I find, and I bring the best ones to you. Here are the best podcasts for November!
BTW, Medium judges this article by how many “claps” it gets, if you like it hit your green clap button :)
1. Knowledge Fight

This one is worth it just for the crazy theme song. Red alert! Knowledge Fight recounts every episode of the Alex Jones show, poking holes in his theories and just generally making fun of the current political climate and fake news culture. So tune in, and just maybe become a policy wonk.
2. Let Me Google That

Get your dose of random internet facts and enjoy your descent into an internet Wikihole with a podcast about whatever we need to Google. It’s short, sweet, and to the point, just like Google. If you’ve ever said, “I need to Google that,” that’s essentially what this podcast is about.
3. Catastrophe!

Interesting, engaging, and sometimes heart wrenching, Catastrophe! is about the various calamities that are part of the fabric of human existence. Volcanologist Jesse Phoenix somehow explains complicated concepts while staying absolutely fascinating. Who knew the dam engineering was so complicated! This season explores the catastrophes caused by human error and what we can learn to prevent them in the future.
4. Those Conspiracy Guys

Those Conspiracy Guys bring an Irish perspective and enthralling accent to conspiracy theories, the paranormal, and true crime. If you love a long podcast this one can run 2+ hours. Plus, they’ve got over 100 episodes for you to binge like I did.
5. Amazon Book Club

It’s time for mediocre novels and first rate comedy. Each week three guys read a free book from Amazon. The books are about the writing quality you’d expect from a free piece of literature and the guys constantly interrupt the reading with off the cuff jokes and comedic sound effects.
6. #NoOffense

I‘m touched when I hear a couple who really seem to love and enjoy each other. #NoOffense is Chris and The Duchess talking about current events, social commentary, and crazy Florida Man moments. They laugh and laugh, and they’ll probably make you laugh and laugh. It’s a good show for when you’re feeling like something light.
7. 1 Big Toilet

In the mood for some truly unorthodox political commentary? One man is trying to get America to realize socialism isn’t just 1 big toilet everyone has to use at the same time. Tony is just a smart guy who loves to rant with incredulity. This podcast will probably be pleasant to your ears if you agree with the politics, but truly there are some great points and perspectives here that you don’t get to hear in the sterilized liberal news media.
8. The Constant

Truly fascinating and bewildering facts about how history got things wrong. Dive inside how medical science used to advise eating human body parts, how dreamcast got the video game business SO WRONG, and how radiation was the secret to that early 1900s skin glow. Incredibly deep and well researched, The Constant will make you learn stuff.

Weirdest Podcast of the Month: Every month I come across a podcast or two that are the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard. I’m not sure they’re good, but they deserve your time for weird factor alone.
This one is truly weird and unique. It’s investigative, comedy, mystery, and maybe prank show? Written in a style reminiscent of David Sedaris or John Green, Brian Thompson tries to find what happened to pizza at McDonald’s.
