Nope. To be honest, I don’t think it is. No one is going to go spend a over $1000 for a clunky headset and a beefy PC to run this. If they got a Daydream View or a GearVR with their phone, then maybe they’d have interest in checking it out.
As I bring up in our first post, there are two compelling reasons why someone would go into VR over another medium. The first is that VR is a great storytelling platform. The second is VR can represent scale better than photos on desktop or mobile.
But the price point is still an issue. I also think people will flock to VR first for games and entertainment before they even think of the shopping use case.
So what do we do until VR is mainstream? That’s why I love the flexibility of WebVR. Having a 3D model of your product is an investment that you can make now that has immediate benefits, and is also useable with AR/VR. It’s a good stopgap.
