Did you know that ASCII Code was first published over 50 years ago?

American Standard Code for Information Interchange or ASCII (as-kee) is a character encoding standard for electronic communication. ASCII codes represent text in computer systems, telecommunications systems, and other electronic devices. Most modern character-encoding schemes are based on ASCII, although they support many additional characters.

ASCII is essentially a spreadsheet of set binary codes that a computer uses to translate and display characters based on the English-language.

ASCII Art

ASCII art is the graphic design technique of using computer presentation of text characters to create images. ASCII art began to appear just a few short years after the first edition of the character encoding standard was published.

Last week we gave the solution to the first clue, “S-E-C-R-E-T-P-U-Z-L-P-A-G-E.H-T-M-L”, a message hidden behind a simple A1Z26 cipher. Upon reaching the page, a giant ASCII art of our current logo is seen.

The next clue is hidden as a hyperlink behind one of the many ASCII characters in the art piece. The easiest way to find it? Open the HTML source of the page(for many browsers, the keyboard shortcut for this is CTRL+U or Command+U).

In HTML, the <a> anchor tag is used to define the beginning and end of a hyperlink. So a search for “a href” or something similar should reveal…

What kind of secret messages could be hidden in this image? Our Discord server and 4th #puzlhunt clue! And maybe more…
