Cate, you are right, but to be fair, it was much, much worse at COMDEX Las Vegas 25 years ago (yes, I was there). They would hire local women who knew nothing about product but the vendors thought might attract the almost entirely male audience to their booth. The conferences that I go to today are mostly small, and I almost never see this anymore, but clearly it still happens. And it is more than regrettable that the tech press objectifies it.
