MIUI 11 stable testing and bug reporting have been started. In an official blog post on its website, the company has revealed the list of 19 devices eligible for the update. The update cycle will take four phases to complete the update cycle by December 26.

The program is launched from the company to see if there are any bugs in the stable version so that they can remove any existing bugs before rolling out stable updates to all users. Those interested can apply for the program via Google form here. The company has said the slots are limited so that users will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Xiaomi will accept applications until 9 PM on December 29, 2019. The participants will be required to join the “MIUI Global Stable Beta Testing Group — Mi Community India” Telegram group as rules and procedures will be informed through the group. The feedback from the team will help Xiaomi roll out stable releases in a timely manner.

Xiaomi started rolling out the MIUI 11 updates in October, and they were completed this December 26. Xiaomi has brought some significant changes and a lot of new features with MIUI 11. Here is the list of best features that MIUI 11 packs.

Improved Always-on display

MIUI 11 brings support of ambient display to many more devices such as Redmi K20. In a much brave move, the company has also offered the option to customize your always-on display. You have been given new animated clock styles, colorful backgrounds, and the ability to set your own custom text.

If your device supports the always-on display feature, then you seriously have a lot of options to customize it as per your taste. A lot of manufacturers out the doesn’t have this.

Notification light

Now, as there is more and more increase in screen sizes, it is challenging to accommodate things like notification light and even a front-facing camera. So, Xiaomi in MIUI 11 has offered an alternative to this; whenever you receive a new notification, the sides of the screen will light up. This will happen only if your phone is locked up.

Redesigned UI

The MIUI 11 has drastically revamped some of the initial graphic designs that we saw in earlier MIUI versions. Now MIUI 11 offers a new default theme where they’ve redesigned the icons to fit the new squircle design. Xiaomi has also redesigned the native app icons to meet the original design.

Now the design looks more uniform and clean. They also have removed many lines and boxes to put the focus more on content and not design. Xiaomi has also brought a new font that looks a lot less cartoonish now.

Mi Share

Mi share works similarly like AirDrop. Using Mi Share, you can easily share files without going through the process of pairing devices. Xiaomi claims the speed you’ll have will be upto 82 Mbps, which is magnificent. Xiaomi has partnered with Oppo, Vivio, and RealMe for the feature, so we can expect these companies to have a feature like this soon.

System-wide dark-mode

The year 2019 has been all about the dark mode, and users are asking for the feature in every graphical interface out there. So Xiaomi has provided us with this popular feature in MIUI 11. You can find it under Display settings with the name as ‘Global Dark Mode.’

For now, inbuilt apps like calculator, calendar, and dialer app support the dark mod, but as the feature is so popular, most apps will soon have them.

Mimoji camera

Since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017, the feature ‘Animoji’ has gained a lot of fanbases. Similar to that, Xiaomi has come up with its own animated emoji named ‘Mimoji.’ The feature is built right into the camera app.

It currently supports head movement, mouth detection, and some degree of facial movement. It is not as advanced as Apple’s Animoji, but you can surely have some fun using it.

New Mint keyboard

Xiaomi has partnered with the Bobble keyboard to bring their own ‘Mint keyboard’ with MIUI 11. It supports Indic languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, and 25 more.

The keyboard comes with two theme options Black and White; if you own a smartphone with AMOLED display, I’d recommend using the Black theme as it beats even Gboard in experience. The keyboard is available for free to download from the Play store.

Disable all sensors

Android 10 brings the option to disable all your sensors for the sake of privacy. So, with MIUI 11, you also get this feature. However, it is not available out of the box, and you have to enable it from the developer options.

After enabling the option from developer setting you can find this feature easily in the notification menu.
