Creating a task in Qlikview server through a management console

When we start learning the server side of qlikview, the tendency is to start from the official qlikview help. I hit my first road block when I started reading about each of the tabs in the Qlikview management console.

The status tab is the first tab in the Qlikview management console. Under the status tab, the first tab we have is the (I am currently on the version 12.0 of Qlikview) “tasks” tab.

I found it a bit difficult to understand what is a task and how we can get a task listed on the Qlikview management console. It was my trainer and colleague Vijay, who is an experienced resource who helped me with this. I thought, I will leave a note on this here.

What is a task & how do we create a task?

An eg: of a task which can be created on Qlikview server without a publisher is a scheduled reload of a report.

On version 12, this is how I did a scheduled reload

Qlikview management console -> Documents -> select a report -> On the pane on the right side, select the Reload tab and do the schedule of the report.

Viewing the created task:

The created task now gets listed under status-> tasks

The below are two screenshots of the reload page and the created page.
