Wall of Kindness

Wall of kindness (Persian: دیوار مهربانی‎‎ dīvār-e mehrabānī; Urdu: دیوار مہربانی‎) is a charity work phenomenon and a kind of welfare introduced in Iran during winters of 2015, it is usually done by attaching cloth hangers from outside of houses; idea encourage people to donate miscellaneous useful items such as winter clothing. It was introduced by an anonymous Iranian, and the practice quickly spread throughout the country. The motto of the movement are two sentences which appear on these walls, “leave if you do not need” and “take if you need”.

Idea was so noble and simple that it quickly crossed the border into neighboring Pakistan and China and now even to some European countries as well. First wall of kindness of Pakistan was setup at MT Khan road in Karachi followed by number of such walls in different areas of city. The prime concept of idea is to help poor without disclosing your identity and similarly take help without begging in front of anyone.

Although idea has been very successful and has crossed geographical boundaries within a short span of time but we can make it more successful by little administration of donations, this way we can keep track of additional donation stuff and ship them to another wall of kindness where they are short or not available at all. A simple mobile app providing management of inventory and sharing information among individuals who are managing the wall of kindness in different areas could be good idea. With little management we can transform this social work to larger scale which is being carried out in Silos as of now.

“Management is a key to success, it can give you the real advantage if you combine it with technology.”
